Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

"Children are like wet cement, whatever falls on them makes an impression." To many, this seems like too much responsibility. I see it as a chance to make a difference. I know that each little one that walks though my door is a future member of society, and I have the opportunity to mold the future.

I teach in a low socioeconomic area, in South Florida.

Many of my students are immigrants or children of immigrants. For many, English is a new language waiting to be explored, and often they are anxious to learn the language. I truly enjoy watching my students walk in through the door of my classroom, and stand amazed to see all the "wonders" that we have here in the states, compared to what many of them are used to.

My Project

Many of the resources asked for in this project are to help my students learn and feel confident about using the English language. The dictionary allows them to research and explore their new language. The books would allow my students to quench their thirst for reading and the English language. The anchor charts and markers would allow us to create posters and study aids, that we can display around the classroom. I want my classroom to be decorated using the learning of my students.

Many of my students have been through more change in the last couple of years, than many of us will experience in our lifetime.

I would love the opportunity to expose them to how great our country is, and to how much opportunity is out there waiting for them. I want them to see that individuals care about them and their success. I want to show them, with hard work and dedication, that the impossible can become possible.
