My Students

Because of budget cuts, families are now asked to provide basic school supplies for their children's classrooms. In my school's socioeconomically diverse community, that can be a hardship for many of our families.

I teach second grade in an urban school in New York.

Our student population is amazingly diverse: academically, ethnically, culturally, and economically. Watching young people from such differing backgrounds come together to create a cohesive and cooperative classroom community is always an inspiration to me.

My Project

My second grade classroom is typically bustling with activity. The students are reading, writing, and doing math. They are engaged in hands-on science and social studies projects. They are growing and learning throughout the year. But they need basic school supplies, such as pencils, paper, folders and notebooks to make this possible.

With this project I hope to stock my classroom with the supplies my students need for the entire school year.

Funding these supplies through DonorsChoose will take the burden off those families who are struggling financially, while providing necessary school materials equitably for ALL my students. Please consider donating to this project.
