Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our classroom is in an urban environment, filled with kids from all walks of life.

Many of my students are English language learners, which means they are learning how to read, write, and speak English.

I have a few students with troubled homes, which makes me work harder to create an environment where every child feels safe and able to learn the skills necessary to be ready for middle school and beyond.

My class is very lucky and has one-to-one Chromebooks. Struggling and new to English learners benefit from being able to look at the words and then hear them being read aloud by a fluent reader. Having headphones would benefit my students, who feel more comfortable listening to the text, or who need to read it multiple times to gain the comprehension.

I am asking for stools, so my students don't have to sit at a structured desk when they are feeling unable to work with their peers. Students will be able to grab a stool and a clipboard and go find a place to work that allows them to regulate their emotions while successfully staying in the classroom.
