Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My two sixth-grade language arts and United States history classes are part of a diverse and vibrant school community. We are a small and diverse school of choice located in the beautiful city of Coral Gables, FL. Like the size of the school, the staff is small but mighty. I could be biased, but I believe you could not find a group of more dedicated professionals who are committed to providing students with stellar, well-rounded educational experiences. In addition to our staff, our parent and community stakeholders work to consistently maintain an authentic partnership with the school that is supportive and collaborative in nature.

Within the beautiful school community, I have the privilege of working with groups of students that are dynamic, curious and wonderfully unique.

They challenge me as a teacher and compel me to seek out educational opportunities that will fuel their zeal to learn and achieve at the highest levels. I welcome the challenge and constantly seek out opportunities and resources that will assist me in providing optimal learning experiences.

My Project

The classroom library is the epicenter of the language arts classroom and our class library is in need of books! I would like to provide students with access to a variety of diverse, high-interest books that span the spectrum of reading levels and reading genres.

Through this project, students will have access to books to take home for independent reading, books to use to meet their Accelerated Reader goals, and books on topics that will build upon and expand their understanding of topics covered in the core curriculum.

Additionally, I selected books that reflect the cultures of students, expose students to important social issues, and books that cover high-interest topics and that expand their understanding of our world.

Part of providing students with an optimal learning experience involves ensuring all students have access to an abundance of high-quality reading material. By supporting this DonorsChoose.org project you will allow me to accomplish this goal!
