A Warm, Welcoming Homecoming After a Long Time Away

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My eager 5th graders are returning to the school building full-time this year. Last school year, some attended in-person one to two times per week while others were fully remote. They haven't been in school full-time for 18 months!
My students with disabilities are excited to return to the school building and finally begin to reclaim some normalcy in their school life.
My Project
Six out of my 10 students with disabilities are returning to school after 18 months of remote instruction. The other four attended school in-person at most 60% of the time last school year. It's their final year of elementary school, and I want them to feel welcomed.
Their classroom is their home away from home.
It should represent the order they have craved for a long time. Life has been very chaotic for my students since the pandemic began. I want their home away from home to be as perfect as possible.
