My Project

I am a special education teacher for middle and high school students with moderate to severe disabilities in Queens, NY. I am also one of three student council advisors, who teach our high school student council members how to serve our school and local community. This year, our students have advocated for a sensory garden where students can visit between classes for some time to decompress and relax from the daily pressures of school.

Help provide our student council with the furniture and materials they need to build a sensory garden outside of our school for students, families, and the local community to enjoy!

We are requesting sensory furniture, such as benches and chairs, which our students will assemble, and situate in the garden. We are also requesting garden beds and seeds so our students can begin to plant herbs for student relaxation. We are requesting rock shaped speakers so our students can create music playlists and play classical and calming music for our garden patrons during visiting hours. Our student council will participate in this community service to work throughout the school year to build and maintain this wellness space for our entire community to enjoy!
