This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students attend a public Kindergarten through eighth-grade school in a high-poverty, urban community in New Jersey. They love music class and are great musicians. Even though we don't have a budget for new materials, we find creative ways to make music together.

My most gifted flute student wants to play the trumpet more than anything but unfortunately, we don't have one.

If we received this trumpet it would have a huge impact on this student's life and also it would improve the quality of sound for all the students participating in our ensemble.

My Project

Thanks to the generosity of the DonorsChoose.com community and several grants, our music department has a great collection of flutes, guitars, and keyboards. However, a very talented student desperately would like to play the trumpet and has made a very good case that it would improve the sound of our entire instrumental ensemble.

Adding a trumpet to our mix of instruments would add a new texture to our growing ensemble.

It would definitely enhance our overall sound and add a new dimension to our performances. While only one student can play the trumpet at a time, everyone in our ensemble would benefit from the experience of playing with a brass instrument.
