My Students

Just like many families, classrooms come with students who are unique and who have their own experiences in life.

I have 40 students from all different backgrounds, who still need to see and experience things about their world.

One third one my students are ESL and they struggle to keep up with their peers and simply understand vocabulary. They are creative, love reading, technology, and writing! Oh how they could grow with more resources and technology to learn about their world!

My Project

Nonfiction reading is one of the harder reading genres students struggle with daily. There are fewer non fiction resources in our school library and students tend to choose fiction over nonfiction because it is easier to read. Students need more exposure to everyday current events in kid friendly writing that they understand, while being highly engaged and learning about our world and being exposed to new vocabulary.

I'm asking for a donation of 40 Scholastic News magazines so that my students can expand their vocabulary, reading comprehension, and learn about the world around them.

Your donation will help fill our literacy stations for teacher lead discussions, small group reading, technology based learning, writing, and much more! My vision is that every student gets the opportunity to read and explore the world beyond our four walls or the classroom.
