I sponsor Art Club at our high school. These students AMAZE me every time we meet. Something I have noticed is their well loved sketchbooks. I have fixed sketchbooks with glue, tape, and even staples to allow them to stay usable.
An experience I'd love to give Art Club is creating their own sketchbooks to home their beautiful creations.
They will use mixed media paper so that they can explore the vast ocean of art supplies all in one little book! The students will punch holes in the paper and bind everything together through the method of coil binding. A plain brown cover will be provided to them - and we will use found paper scraps and magazine cut outs to decorate each cover. These sketchbooks will be so personal and treasured for years to come! As a teacher now - I still look back on and remember when my art teacher gave me this opportunity.
