My Students

My students are creative and soulful. They seek independence and individuality. They will fight for opportunities to express themselves. In more ways than one, they are learning that struggle can still equal success.

For the above mentioned, these students need a very structured environment where patience and self-discipline hang in balance with their need for freedom and self-expression.

I admire these students for welcoming opportunities that allow them to be proud and to show their best work. Trusting the tool of collaboration is causing them to believe in their capabilities, leading them to do more, and make less excuses.

My Project

My cultural sustainability classes are participating in "Ka Piko, Waimānalo," a cultural event celebrating and showcasing the talents and products grown and made right here in Waimānalo. We will be at Waimānalo Beach Park on Saturday, February 16, 2019.

We are using this authentic event as an opportunity for career and technical education students at our school to showcase their knowledge of traditional and contemporary Hawaiian arts and crafts.

Community pride and engagement are at the core of this celebration. My class is looking forward to being part of the Hawaiian music, cultural games, agricultural products, and arts and crafts found at this event. It is with pride that they plan and prepare for this event, a unique opportunity in their young lives.
