A Townsend Press Kindness Project: Be a Friend - Not a Bully
My students need an anti-bullying teaching kit with six books to learn how important it is to be kind to others. They also need art supplies to create friendship cards.

My Students
We all have heard that sticks and stones may break our bones, but names will never hurt us. That saying is certainly NOT true. Names do hurt others, and we need to teach children the importance of being kind to their classmates.
I teach twenty-two second graders in a very large elementary school.
We have approximately 700 students enrolled in our K-5 building. Each grade level has 100+ students in it. There can be over three hundred students on each playground during morning and lunch recesses! That means there are lots of interactions between groups of students.
My Project
I am requesting a teaching kit about stopping bullying in our classroom. I want to make our classroom a No Bully Zone. The teaching kit comes with six books to help me teach that being kind to one another is very important. After teaching them how important it is to be kind to one another, I will launch a friendship card project. I would like card-making supplies to use during our writing block to create the friendship cards.
My students are enthusiastic second graders who love to read and write.
I want to create a No Bully Zone in my room and teach them to be kind to one another. Our friendship card project will allow my students to brighten the day for a fellow student by creating a caring message in a colorful glittery friendship card. They could make cards for birthdays, Valentine's Day, and just to cheer someone up. I want them to learn the power of their words and to experience the impact of their kindness.
