My Project

In our first year at our school, 4th-6th grade students have embraced new specials classes like STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and Book Club, where they explore research, evaluation, and idea implementation. Throughout the year, they’ve been eager to learn 3D printing and design! After introducing Tinkercad to 6th grade last month and watching them excel within weeks, it’s clear that all our students would benefit from hands-on experience with 3D printing.

With the library serving as a hub for both research and creativity, 3D printing will bridge the gap between STEAM and literacy—allowing students to prototype inventions, create story-inspired models, and bring learning to life through hands-on exploration.

By scaffolding 3D design, innovation, and problem-solving, students develop technology and design skills that will serve them for years to come. More importantly, they experience the satisfaction, frustration, determination, and pride that come with persevering through trial and error—building both confidence and resilience. Acquiring two 3D printers for our school would allow students to bring their ideas to life year-round.

Our students are lucky to have STEAM class, a brand-new offering in our district. With 3D printers, students can experience the creative side of printing while also exploring its practical applications—identifying problems and designing real-world solutions. In our rural, predominantly low-income school of 210 students, these printers would be an invaluable investment in our creative technology curriculum.

This historic building has served many students over the years, but this is its first year housing this grade-level configuration. With district-wide restructuring, budgets are tight. Your support would help us provide an engaging, future-ready learning experience, giving students the opportunity to innovate, create, and develop skills that will shape their futures.
