Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Classroom decor is a part of teaching that does not become less significant the older the students. In fact, classroom decor is extremely important in elementary school. It sets the tone for the year. Students enjoy coming into a comfortable, visually engaging classroom.

I like my classroom to be thematic and filled with motivational quotes, bulletin boards full of paper, borders, letters, bins, and pictures.

Students deserve to have a classroom they feel welcomed in. A cafe/coffee shop classroom will invite them to want to engage. Think about when you are in a cafe and you see the "The Daily Grind" sign on what's happening for the day. Then you look at the "Menu Board" (Learning Targets) and get your goals for the day and unit. Themes create a sense of balance for students in special education and make sense of grounding.
