My Project

In the art room, it is important for students to have some independence and foster a community atmosphere. Flexible seating will allow for students to work in an environment that suits them. In a Title I high school, many students see the art room as a safe place to be and be heard. While working on art projects, students will have time to work independently. Having the choice of where they sit will allow me to meet students where they are at, boost engagement, and give them the independence that many high schoolers are seeking. Most students will make good choices on where they should be sitting, and allowing for this choice builds trust in the classroom. I am requesting Comfy Floor Seats, a Wood File Cabinet, a rug, hand soap, tissues, and artwork storage.

Accessible studio supplies will allow students the flexibility and independence to get materials as they choose and take accountability for their work.

Having clear storage options will be amazing for students to get the supplies that they need so I can assist them in more ways. As the only teacher in a large classroom environment, the ability to sit down and help students who need it will be a game changer in the art room. These life skills of being independent in a space and being able to make the best choices for yourself will help my students immensely in their futures.
