Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I teach middle school drama/speech grades 6 - 8. We are a title I school district in a high-risk community where most of students are minority and low-income.

Our new drama / speech program was created to promote public speaking skills in a community where many students are English language learners. Our students do not have daily access to formal speech skills. We are trying to inspire them by getting them involved with quality theater productions. Unfortunately, we do not have many supplies. Currently our students perform their long labored shows in their own T-shirts and jeans. I would love to buy them beautiful costumes, but we don't have the money in our budget.

If we have a sewing machines and sewing supplies, we can make appropriate looking costumes for our children. Numerous teaching have offered to help sew if we get a machine.

Your donation can make is possible for students to wear quality costumes instead of their own clothes from home. This will give them more pride and their theatre department and hopefully inspire them to continue working on their speaking skills.
