My Students

I am a 1st-grade teacher in a low income/high poverty school district. My students overcome challenges on a daily basis in and outside of the classroom. They work hard each day and do their best to succeed. My classroom is filled with positivity, creativity, and laughter.

My students teach me how to overcome adversity and hardship each day.

They are learning the skills they will need to help them succeed in their educational journey. Together as a classroom family, we teach each other how to be kind, thoughtful, determined, and hardworking individuals. Due to the Covid-19 virus, my classroom is going to look different this year. My students will need extra resources to learn and stay safe.

My Project

The new school year will bring many challenges for the students and teachers. Most of the 2020-2021 school year was spent learning at home. The students that I will receive next year will need lots of extra help and support across the board, but especially when it comes to phonics and reading. That's why I need your help! The materials on my list will be used in teaching important foundational skills.

The phonics skills learned in first grade build the foundation of all future reading fluency.

This foundation needs to be built strong and sturdy. With the materials on my list I will be able to give students the support and instruction needed. This will set them up for a life time of academic success.
