My Students

Our Martinez students are a very special group of people. They are a mixed demographic of people that have found the sweetness of a small town and have formed a tight knit community. They come from different economic backgrounds but have found the beauty of sharing and building up all kids in our city. Our community has a jail, courthouse, and train running through the town in addition to the home of John Muir less than a mile from our school.

Our students are Hispanic, Asian, Indian, African American, and more!

Even though our town is small, it is mighty in diversity! My students love sharing who they are and giving us a glimpse of their lives. I have learned about their cultures through food, customs, celebrations, and their daily lives. I love their openness towards one another and their ability to share who they are in their community.

I find that the students in my community love school. They are excited about all of our school events and are energetic and enthusiastic about doing their part to make the world a better place.

My Project

Students need to be heard and to know their voice is important. The sound system will help my Kindergarten students present their speeches, and my 5th grade science students present their science projects. A microphone and sound system turns a soft voice into something powerful. It is also mobile so that we can use the sound to present in a variety of places indoors or out.

My students are learning the importance of communication.

We have several themed projects, performances, and presentations throughout the course of a school year that help them hone in on these specific skills. The sound system will inspire and provide a more authentic experience of communication for my young students.

The sound system will also allow our audience to hear the presenters in a more clear and effectual way. The ability to hear and understand is so important in communication and the sound system will allow this to happen.
