Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach in a project-based school. Students need to complete long and complex pieces of work to qualify for graduation. These require long classes in which students spend time reading, writing, and discussing the work with one another. Snacks ease the sharing of ideas and work. They facilitate conversation and help make the sparks fly.

They are a pick-me-up when students are feeling stuck or frustrated by the work.

They are also a way for students to break up their routines so that they can work for longer on their ideas. My hope is that by adding a snack break to our classroom structures, we will help more students feel cared for and successful in class.
