This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very resilient despite their socioeconomic status and residing in one of the poorest congressional district in the United States. My students show a strong desire to complete their high school requirement and go into a post secondary education. For many of my students, they will be the first high school graduate in their family. When any of my students are hungry, they put their pride aside and will come to me for a healthy snack that I often pay for.

My Project

When students are hungry, it is hard for them to concentrate and sometimes they get headaches from the lack of food. Students have come to my office throughout the day. When they come in the morning, it lets me know that they have not eaten breakfast for a variety of reasons. When students come in the afternoon hours, I know that sometimes the lunch meal was not enough. Each time I meet students for their counseling sessions, I offer them water and snack. I also remind them why water is needed. We need these snacks.

Students also come to my office to print out their assignments and sometimes we don't have the ink so this replacement ink will come in handy.
