My Project

These specific books create reflections of the students inside of my classroom. Students come from diverse backgrounds, and inclusive books help reflect the range of identities present in the classroom, including race, gender, culture, ability, family structure, and more. When students see themselves represented in literature, it affirms their own sense of worth and belonging.

I anticipate these books will help students build confidence and a positive self-image.

These books highlight diverse cultural traditions, languages, and practices, allowing students to learn about and appreciate cultures other than their own. This creates a more globally-minded classroom environment.

In today’s interconnected world, learning about different cultures helps students become more responsible, thoughtful, and aware global citizens.
