My Students

Kindergarten is the time to create, investigate, and make! My students are wildly imaginative, brilliantly creative, and full of giggles! They come from one of the toughest neighborhoods in the city of Chicago but it certainly doesn't stop them from being excited about school, every day! It's one of the happiest years in early childhood because they are at the age of exploring and are just stepping into the big world of education. They see the world through these fabulously fun glasses of endless possibilities that spreads into our hearts as teachers and adults. It's a positive and constant reminder of how fun it was to be five!

My students are a terrific bunch of kids full of excitement and who have an epic hunger for learning!

They are always asking new questions and are curious about anything new they discover. My students are this incredible bunch of diverse learners. We have students of all abilities and I am always so proud and impressed by the level of love and compassion my students share for one another. We are a true community of little learners who are always eager to try something new and help each other learn and grow!

My Project

Having classroom furniture that is safe and constructed to look like furniture from the home creates a sense of place in the classroom. When children see things that remind them of home they can make the connection that this room is a safe, loving, and fun place to be. With the classroom fireplace/mantel I can add my student's photos to the mantel and place special objects or projects inside the cubbies for display. This shows my students that they are valued and what they do in my classroom is special.

The flex space round table is a way for my students to choose a seating option that is comfortable and meets their learning needs.

Having a variety of seating options is important in my classroom because it allows students the flexibility to pick a seat that is comfortable and a place where they can learn successfully.
