My Project

I teach in a gifted center that serves students from across our district. These students are like sponges; constantly asking questions and wanting to learn about everything! We do not have a school library so teachers must buy or borrow books to use in our classrooms. Having a variety of nonfiction books for my students to browse and for me to use in my instruction would enhance student learning and spark interest in the world around them. Some of the titles included in my project, such as “Hidden Figures” and “Mae Among the Stars” are ones that I have used previously but had to borrow. Having the books permanently would allow students access to them year-round. Other books are related to units I teach, but do not have many books to support. These books would bring to life social studies and science concepts so much better than computer information alone.
