Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is holding its first Family Carnival. The kids, teachers, and parents are all so excited and looking forward to it. It will be such a fun way for our families and our school community to spend time together. We are hoping for a huge turnout since it is just a few days before Halloween.

I am the art specialist in a K-5 arts school.

We are located in one of the poorest rural areas of the state. Our families are plagued by poverty and high unemployment rates. I see about 975 students every week, from Kindergarten though grade five. All of the students receive free or reduced-price lunch. The student population is 95% Hispanic, 3% African American, 1% Caucasian, and 1% Asian. About 70% of the students in my room are learning English as a second language.

My Project

Do you remember what it was like when you were in elementary school around Halloween? We want to have an amazing fall festival but need games and prizes for the event. During the festival each child will be able to participate in all the activities. They can play games, create arts and crafts, listen to music, and watch the thriller dance performed by our students! They will also participate in activities that strengthen their minds, their muscles, and create essential ties and bonds to their community. To make this a success, we need prizes and games. First, we need games for the kids to play. Second, we need to have prizes to give to each child when they finish each activity. Prizes such as bouncy balls, bracelets, stickers , paddles and erasers. Good old fashion fun for the entire family is just what our kids and families who are struggling really need to achieve.
