This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 6th-grade students in a magnet school for the arts. We are a classroom full of musicians, wordsmiths, creators, builders, and performers. We're fresh out of elementary school and can use as supportive as a start to the big and bustling world of middle school as possible. What better opportunity we could have to facilitate our development of an eager approach to learning and talking about math than to channel the artistic talents of my students.
We are on a mission to create math portfolios that are artistic conversation platforms - an opportunity to communicate the ways that we see classroom math that affects us in the real world.
We need a scanner printer (and some pencils!) to more effectively and efficiently document our progress and our new understandings. The scanning feature will allow us to create mixed media portfolios of our handwritten work and the printer will curtail the endless traveling between floors, waiting in line, and otherwise rushing about the school to try and make copies at all hours of the day and night.
