This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Imagine your child going to school without a decent pair of shoes and socks, or a warm coat to protect them from the cold. Our school wants to help by providing students with the things they need to have a successful future.

Right now, we are desperately needing a space to store donations, hand-me-downs, unperishable food, and more for students in need.

We are a Title I school where 85% of our students are from low-income families. We want to provide a safe place for students to feel secure and not embarrassed when they need something in their life. I understand this is not common, but I am requesting a "store" " like storage space that will be located outside the school. In this space, we will have shelves of school supplies and basic family essentials for families who can’t afford them. Students will not feel worried about letting their peers find out if they are getting “free” items.

We are saving all the donated items in a small dark storage room behind the stage where now it become a safety hazard for adults or students to walk in, and grab things they need from the shelves. We are looking to supply our future generation with a multi-use shed that will be converted and used as a place where students feel comfortable walking in and requesting essentials from school uniforms, undergarments, shoes, toothbrushes, soap, or even just cans of food to get by until their parents’ next paycheck.

Working together, I believe that we will unlock endless possibilities for our students. With their newfound space where providing them a sense of security, they can focus on learning, and share their perspectives with the world! Your generous contribution will make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.
