This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Hello, I'm a fifth grade teacher. I work for a school in California where our majority of students come from African American and Hispanic families. Our school is a free public school, and most of our students come from low socio economic status. In addition, we are a Title I School which means that we provide free meal plans to support our families needs. My students are finally back in campus since our closure for more than a year ago. What makes my students special is that they come to class ready to learn with enthusiasm and eagerness even as we deal with the pandemic.

As my students and I resume to hybrid teaching and in-the class instruction, I would like to provide the safest return for my students to help them feel safe as well as to have snacks to nourish their learning.

This is their last year in elementary school and your donation will help them continue learning both in person and at home. Please help us continue learning in campus and at home by donating to our classroom!

My Project

The hand sanitizing dispenser and refills will be used to help students maintain a safe and secure return. Students will be able to enter our classroom and disinfect their hands often as the stand will be placed inside our classroom for easier access. The individual sanitizers will be given to both groups virtual and in-campus students, students will be safer knowing they have additional resources to help keep germs away.

The resources needed will benefit all my students feel safe both in-campus and virtually.

The washable water bottles will be distributed to all students, students in campus have to bring their own water supply as all drinking faucets are not available during the pandemic. Students will be able to refill their own bottle, and have water available. During the pandemic sharing is not available, the waterproof pencil cases will help my students organize their materials and clean or wipe the cases down. Next, the magnetic dry eraser will also be used to accommodate learning, students will be able to erase their work with the erasers as we use white boards daily. As a teacher and a mother, I know buying resources such as snacks can be challenging. Additionally, I noticed that my students need snacks for their recess breaks. I would like to provide snacks such as cookies, chips, and other things to my students so they can have something to eat and be able to stay focused!
