My Students

The vast majority of the students I serve come from poverty-stricken households. Despite their economic challenges, they are resilient and truly desire success. Given the new circumstances that we are all facing due to the pandemic, I want to ensure that my students have all of the necessary school supplies and engaging, time sensitive read aloud books pending their return to the classroom come mid October.

My Project

Many of my students' families have been greatly affected by the pandemic. Purchasing school supplies more than likely will not be a priority for them. I teach approximately 75 students 4th grade ELA, and under normal circumstances, we share supplies as it is difficult to purchase individual supplies for that many students. It is my hope that with your help, we will be able to provide supplies for each child, easing the burden of parents and ensuring that our kids stay safe during this time. Students will be given a folder and pouch filled with supplies that only they will use. The read aloud books will allow us to have discussions about our feelings and promote a positive classroom environment through these tough times and the unusual return to face-to face-learning.
