In my first year of teaching, I learned that the most important thing in a classroom is the comfortability of my students! I want to enhance the welcoming environment that I strive so hard to create so when students enter my room, they feel right at home.
The flexible seating and books are crucial to the library I am working on creating.
I did not teach ELA last year so I am working very hard to make reading and writing a natural part of my classroom. I think having a safe place to go in the classroom when you need a break is crucial so enhancing the welcoming aspect of a library will be the biggest element of creating that.
I want this classroom to be a place that these kids remember forever, like I remember my classrooms from elementary school. I also want to remind students on how we accept others even when we are different whether it is visible or not, so the diverse selection of books will be elevated in my classroom library so the students are taught to be understanding and respectful of everyone.
