My Students

Kindergarten students have a lot of rug time. Having an inadequate rug is not fun for the students and the teacher as well. Having a bright, spacious, and inviting rug will add to the classroom atmosphere, as well as create appropriate spacing for each student. No more crowding on the rug!

My Kindergartners come from all parts of the globe.

I have students from Russia, Armenia, India, Vietnam, El Salvador, Mexico, and of course the United States. For many, English is their second Language. In addition to that, some students have been classified as pre-SAS (School for Advanced Studies).

My Project

With the addition of this rug to our classroom, students will be able to sit comfortably on the rug, and with the appropriate amount of spacing. The rug we are currently using does not outline specific spaces for each student, and is not color-coordinated. The Lakeshore rug will also help with classroom management in that students will not argue over who took their spot on the rug because they will be assigned to a box. It will also aid in managing groups by assigning them to specific colors, and will help with dismissal procedures in that I can dismiss students now by color, etc...

This rug will doubly-benefit our classroom.

For one, we will have a rug with sufficient, outlined space, and two, our current rug can then be moved to the calendar area. Our current calendar rug is only 5 ft X 7 ft, so it is impossible to fit 24 children in that space. Students who do not fit on the calendar rug have to sit on the hard floor, and it makes learning a bit harder because they are not comfortable.
