A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
Funding for public education in Oklahoma has sadly been put on the back burner. Working in a low-socioeconomic area, it is vital to keep the resources fresh, up to date, and engaging for our students. These resources are important for teachers to help build a love for learning. Having necessary resources helps ensure that our students feel valued, engaged, and motivated to learn.
I will be teaching at a new school this year, I briefly got to meet my new students at "sneak preview" on their last day of school in May.
I taught Kindergarten for the past two years and will be teaching third grade this year. Being a fairly new teacher, I invested most of my time and money in creating and purchasing kindergarten books and materials over the past couple of years. I am capable of creating resources for my third graders, however, the one thing I'm truly lacking in my classroom is a classroom library fit for third graders. I would love to have some books for independent reading as well as some classroom sets for literature focus units. Thank you for the support!
My Project
I would love to be able to provide my students with a wide range of books that they can choose to read independently, in small groups, or books read aloud by me. By providing variety in a classroom library, it helps to ensure that the students will have access to books that interest them. I think it is important for them to have books to access for independent reading time, but I also would love to incorporate some literature focus units and author studies. Having a great classroom library keeps the students engaged and excited to read! It is important to keep their interest in reading high in order to help them love reading for years to come.
