My Students

We are in a rural farming area and our school serves the surrounding communities. We draw students from over 188 square miles.

Our staff’s mission is to embrace best practices in a technological world in order to prepare the children for learning across their lifetime.

Our school improvement efforts this year will focus on the development of 21st century learners. To continue the implementation of Illinois Early Learning and Development Standards, students will engage in higher-order thinking, problem solving, and collaborative learning.

My Project

Classroom atmosphere is the foundation to promote learning. A classroom needs to be arranged so children can easily locate and explore a variety of materials. When there are no shelves or the equipment is broken this can cause a problem in setting up a learning environment.

It is my desire to create a writing center where preschool children can come and explore a variety of writing tools and shelving would make this goal possible.

Children in the writing center need a defined area to work in that is quiet and provides uninterrupted play. Shelving is the base for this goal to be achieved. Preschool children need shelves where the equipment can be stored, labeled and easily accessible. The paper storage shelf will provide a space to keep a large variety of paper avalabe for the children to use independently.

When children have a defined space to work in their attention increases and their level of work reaches to new heights.
