A Refreshed Library

Help me give my students the library they need. We're in a classroom that only has chapter books, and the students need more diversity in reading. Please make our library one that they will enjoy.

My Students

My students are homogeneously compromised and come from the Coop City neighborhood in the Bronx. Many students' families can not keep up with the cost of consumable school supplies.

We are a school that services students from Pre-K to fifth grade.

Although we have a very strong parent presence many parents can not keep up with the costs of supplies.

This past year as in all my years at my school, students come eager to learn, anxious to grow, and determined to succeed.

My Project

Our current library that is in a classroom I inherited contains very old chapter books. Although the students are in fourth grade, not all are inclined to pick up a chapter book. I would like for them to have a bit more choice and diversity in what they read in school and take home to read. We need more lively picture books that have relevant subject matter but in a child-friendly way (as you can determine from the book choice I have wished for). After all, we all are aware that if the subject matter is uninteresting, students will not be inclined to read it. Please consider making a difference for my scholars this year, it would be immensely appreciated!
