Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am thrilled to announce that I will be teaching 3rd grade for the first time next year! I know this year is going to be epic because my students are so eager to learn and excited for all new lessons and activities that will take place in our classroom.

My students live in a small community and most receive free-reduced lunch.

They do not readily have access to rich literature or opportunities to travel outside of our city.

I want to offer these things to them and so much more!

My Project

The books will not only provide a full library but also the opportunity for my students to explore the world of others without ever leaving the classroom. Reading for pleasure is such a fundamental part of becoming a strong, independent reader and having a variety of books to choose from is the best way I can foster lifelong reading habits.

My students will engage in daily independent reading time in which they may select a book of their choice to read.

They will also engage and participate in book clubs where they are reading the same book as their classmates and asking questions, making predictions and summarizing.
