Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students are diverse, eager to learn, and have active minds. For most of them this is their first learning in a school setting. Many of them come to school lacking the necessary supplies and often are not exposed to different learning materials outside of the classroom. They love to engage in hands-on activities where they get to show off their skills. The majority of my students come from low income homes and live in shelters, Section 8 housing and in public housing. The majority of the students are English Language Learners, and many have Individualized Educational Plans. They all receive free breakfast, lunch and snack. They face many challenges in their daily life, but come to school eager to learn. They try their best to attempt tasks even when it is challenging. We have a strong sense of community, and we exhibit empathy for each other.
My Project
Students will use the pencils, dry erase pencils, erasers to craft their writing. The construction paper, flash cards with rings will allow me to create authentic flash cards based on my students levels.
Many of my students do have the tools to help them become writers, illustrators and thinkers of great ideas.
These writing tools will help them become confidence in their thought process to express themselves through writing.
I want to give my students the very best opportunities to succeed. Help me give them a running start so they can get ahead.
