My Students

Students come to school daily with a variety of learning disabilities. My students are amazing! Some of my students are second language learners and also struggle with many challenges in learning e specially in Math. My students are a beautiful group of caring, sweet young people who have a passion to learn and be successful! As like many schools this school is a Title One school with more 77% of our population receiving free/and or reduce breakfast and lunch. Funding is always a problem. The students in my class come with a variety of challenges from being newcomers in the country, poverty, homelessness, emotional, social issues, and learning disabilities. They require devotion and support to bring out their inner desire to learn and appreciate the value of an education. Having materials that support my students visually would be amazing and open up the world to them. When a classroom is well organized and prepared the students see and feel the enthusiasm to learn! Many of my students do not have the support needed at home. So the time spent in the educational environment is crucial!

My Project

My students could use a 21st Century printer to enable them to type their written work in Math, so they can create an Interactive Math Classwork Book, as well as create their own math word problems, which will enable them to explain their strategies.

The class is comprised of general education students and special needs students.

Being first graders they all have difficulty with writing. Using a computer to type and print engages them in learning and writing isn't a struggle or frustrating for them. It is now fun! Our present printer only has a capacity of 15 sheets before we are out of ink! The printer is a dinosaur!

My students are the love of my life! I so enjoy them! They are so eager to learn and explore! They are our future! Technology is their future! They deserve to have all the tools necessary for them to succeed in our present world! A new 21st century printer will enable them to reach their full potential in Math and assist the special needs students in area's that they struggle daily with. Our classroom will be completely in the 21st century in technology with a new printer!
