This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are supposed to be teaching students how to incorporate technology into their everyday lives, however, the ability for them to use a printer has been taken away.

I teach 7th grade science in an inner city middle school in Connecticut.

The school I work in is a Title One school, where 80% of my students qualify for free or reduced lunch. About 95% of my students are minorities. A lot of the students are English Language Learners (ELL). My students truly enjoy coming to school everyday and learning. They are at an interesting age where school is such a large part of their developing lives.

My Project

In an effort to cut costs, the district has taken away classroom printers. Unfortunately, this was a key instrument in implementing instruction in this age of technology. Students now have no way to print out their work and I have lost a key teaching resource. In the past, students have always typed out lab reports and used the printers to put together their science fair boards and various projects. I have used it to print school documents, give differentiated instruction materials to various students, and hand out extra copies of work to students who have misplaced it. I'm not sure how all of these tasks will get completed now.

Please help us to be able to print in our classroom this year.

The printer and ink are so important to classroom projects. Students need to be able to have resources available to them in order for them to succeed.
