Dear Donor, It is hard to learn when you do not have a proper place to sit. It is a challenge to concentrate on a lesson when the seat of your chair tips over to one side, forcing you to focus on keeping your body from falling onto the floor.
It is impossible for a struggling reader to get lost in a book when their chair feels awkward and uncomfortable.
There is a chair shortage in our school. The chairs we do have are old and worn and incredibly uncomfortable! I’m a Reading Intervention teacher that works with about 65 students per day in my classroom. We are a Title 1, low-income, school. With the economy situation, we have no funds for replacing existing furniture or materials. My students work hard everyday doing their very best. I hate that a damaged chair can be such a distraction to them. We would love NEW SEATS!
Currently, in my classroom we have the old chairs and 12 new chairs that were donated along with my new U-table in September and April, thanks to Donors Choose! My students fuss and fight over those 12 chairs every day. Chairs are a foundation for learning. They support students’ bodies and allow them to focus on their brains’ acquisition of knowledge. I am requesting 6 stacking chairs to be used by my (65) 3th - 5th grade students during small group. Chairs are a foundation for learning. They support students’ bodies and allow them to focus on their brains’ acquisition of knowledge.
Comfort is important and new chairs will help my students for years to come.
If this project is funded, my students will be so excited to sit in brand new chairs. Please help support our learning and thank you for your commitment to education!
