My Students

Do you remember the guided reading table in the back of your kindergarten classroom? In my classroom, our reading table is too small for my students to work effectively. I cannot work with more than 3 students at a time, and even that is a struggle because of the limited space.

I teach kindergarten at a small, rural school in Arkansas.

My students come from diverse backgrounds. My students are so sweet and always eager to learn. They are excited about school and learning to read and write. I teach students who are filled with joy and enthusiasm about everything we do!

My Project

I work with 4 reading groups each day at my reading table. Our new table will allow my students to use all of the appropriate materials and will give me the room that I need to model the tasks that my students are asked to complete. In addition, with this table, I will be able to meet with my writing groups as a whole. Currently, I have to split my writing groups into smaller groups because all of my students cannot fit at my table with their notebooks. This prohibits me from working with each group each day. Our new table will allow us to work cooperatively in both reading and writing daily. It will also provide me with adequate space to pull groups for remediation and/or enrichment as needed.

Our new reading table will allow my students the opportunity to work in their groups each day.

It will help me provide an environment of cooperative learning that is currently very difficult with our small reading table. My students and I are so thankful for your help!
