This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Lemonade and Sapphire are my active, friendly, and curious pet parakeets in my classroom who aid my students to learn about sensitivity and that all living creatures need more than just food and water for survival. My students are gaining hands-on experiences and seeing directly how their behavior and actions affect our pets and others.

Having parakeets in my pre-kindergarten class has been a great asset with increasing class morale, developing a sense of pride and accomplishment as well as enhancing and improving student learning; all while my pre-kindergarteners learn to care for two adorable birds.

Many of my students do not have exposure to animals at home and are now able to get the chance to interact with our class pet birds, hermit crabs, worms, snails, ants, ladybugs, and fish on a daily basis.

We need your help with maintaining our parakeets' health, and diet as well as creating a nurturing habitat for them to flourish in our science and discovery center. Your donation will help purchase food supplies, vitamins, and cage essentials needed to help Lemonade and Sapphire live healthy lives while visiting each student’s home over the weekends and long school breaks.
