My Students
A picture is worth a thousand words! It is amazing to see through the eyes of a young preschooler. Children see their environment in a different angle than adults do. I want to be able to offer them the opportunity to take pictures of what they see is important during their day in preschool.
My students are preschoolers students who come from diverse backgrounds.
I teach two sessions of preschool. Each session has children with and without special needs. There are also students in both classes that English is not their first language. Each child has an interest level that is all their own and I want to encourage their learning at their level.
My Project
The Crayola cameras will be available for the children to use throughout the day to take pictures of what they deem "important". That may be a picture of something they built in the block area or a picture of their friends dressed up in housekeeping. The other camera will be used by the teacher to take pictures of the children's learning but will also be available for the students use with adult supervision. The cameras will all have cords that the children will either wear as a necklace or around their wrist in order to keep the cameras safe.
I will also show the children who are interested how to pull the pictures from the camera and put on the computer. At the end of each school year, I create a slideshow of pictures of the learning that happened that school year. With the use of these three cameras they children will have an opportunity to have a say in what pictures are in the slideshow.
The children will have the opportunity to use a camera that they may not have at home.
Many people use their cellphones to take pictures, with the cameras the children will be exposed to one more type of technology at an early age.
