This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students embody the vibrant energy of their neighborhood and the hardworking attitude of the city in which they live. They are proud to call themselves New Yorkers. But regardless of their various backgrounds, they come to school ready to learn and to make lasting relationships with fellow students and teachers.

Their goal is college readiness - and ultimately, graduation.

Everyday, they strive to put their best effort in the classroom. That means participating in active discussions, relearning material to achieve mastery, and building each other up so that all students reach their potential.

My Project

My students are about to embark in an intensive case study about photography. For a week, they'll learn the elements of art, different ways of lighting, and the rule-of-thirds. With the gracious help of colleagues and friends, they'll also get hands-on experience with DSLRs. They'll dive deeper into how light affects an image, discovering how each part of the exposure triangle - aperture, shutter speed, and ISO - impact the subject.

All their creativity and hard work will deserve proper recognition.

These picture frames will highlight their photos in my classroom and in our school hallways throughout the year. Hopefully, they'll inspire more students to get behind the camera as well.
