My Project

A classroom is not just textbooks and school work; it is a child's second home. I want each child that walks through the door to feel comfortable and enjoy being in class. The physical classroom environment plays a crucial role in making students feel welcome and excited to be at school.

With the donors choose supplies, I intend to create inviting areas where students can choose to work, and play, throughout the day.

I will have two rugs. The first being a large world map and the second depicts the solar system. Not only will the rugs be comfortable, but their visual content will reinforce the learning in class. To further make the areas comfortable students will have access to bean bag chairs with back support. Students will be able to put their work on the dry erase clipboard and sit on the carpet to work collaboratively with their peers. My 3rd grade students have pen pals with other 3rd graders across the United States. They will use the packs of postcards to write to their pen pals. Students will also utilize the space during indoor recess days. The variety of toys and games will keep them happy even though the rain may keep them indoors. The Donors Choose materials will ensure each child has access to a nurturing learning environment.
