Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our children are dreamers. They are eager and motivated to learn. They come from families who are hard-working, and they are teaching their children that same motivation for learning. Many of our families fall below the national poverty levels; some experiencing the situation of being homeless or are home insecure. In addition, English is a second language for the majority of our families or they are bilingual households.

Every child deserves a great start.

Our children deserve no less than great. Our children are getting ready for Kindergarten, and it is our job to prepare them! Having the right materials and devices is a large part of preparing students for school success!

My Project

Having a good bookshelf for our library area will encourage my students to better care for our books. Children need to be taught how to care for books, especially those who don't have any or many at home to look after. Our current library needs improvement so that I can continue to teach our children about proper care for books.

Taking proper care of our books will help to keep them around for a long time!

That's why I am seeking a new bookshelf, where books can be displayed so that children can see the covers. This will create an appealing area to draw children in and will encourage them to put our books away nicely and to not throw them on the floor where they can be damaged by walking feet.

I am also seeking a small table to add to a nook library concept where I can place literacy activities and a lamp to read by, as we all probably know those school lights aren't the best lighting to read with! This is going to create a cozy library space that children and adults enjoying spending time in to read!
