My Students

"Do we get to do that?!" is often a phrase heard in our classroom. The students in my classroom, everyday, are eager to learn and try new things. Outside of school they do not typically have many opportunities, as I work at a Title I school in which many students are a part of the free and reduced lunch program. My school district is in a small community, in east Texas, and our students do not always have easy access to experiences and opportunities like schools in a bigger city would.

My Project

Last year we were blessed to have a weather station center funded through DonorsChoose. This year we would like to take it a step further and set up an outside classroom. Children can learn more about nature while being outside.

Students love to go outdoors, but we have nowhere to sit when we go outside.

We are asking for an outdoor metal picnic table and clipboards to create an outdoor student-centered classroom. Our students love what they’re learning, but get so fidgety sitting inside all day. This table will add space for children to be in nature. We will be able to go outside and sit, do our work, make nature observations and be free to do "messy" science experiments!

Please help us get a table that will give us safe, dry seating and clipboards that will keep their papers from blowing away.
