This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach early childhood music in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My music room is in need of a new carpet. This carpet specifically is used for the music room for seating and instruction! This round music carpet has spaces around the circle for each child to sit, music notation to learn about, and a giant floor staff with a treble clef for students to begin learning how to read music.

This carpet would be used every day for both seating and instruction.

My students range from prekindergarten through second grade. This carpet will be useful for all grade levels to teach all types of music. A round carpet also supports community building and sharing within the circle. We can easily play circle games, setup for a drum circle, and read stories together.

Early childhood music is so important to teaching every part of the child. It promotes independent thinking, community building, and creativity. All students benefit from music class and this carpet will make instruction fun and enjoyable.
