My Students

My school is one of the most diverse campuses in the area. In a single classroom I might have a student with a parent who works at Apple, a student who has only been in the country a short while, a student who has recently become homeless, or a student that has two parents that work two to three jobs just to keep food on the table. What I love the most about these students is how they are so accepting and open with one another despite their differences.

My Project

As an English teacher, I truly believe that reading helps students learn important concepts that they can't always relate to in a lesson. Because of this, I encourage my students to read books that they WANT to read by having various types of literature accessible in the classroom.

I want my students to develop a love for reading and transfer that love to their academic futures.

I believe that it is just as important to display the books in a way that is appealing to students and catches their attention. This bookshelf would make a huge difference in the "curb appeal" of my little classroom library. It is so exciting as a teacher to see my student's faces light up when they spot a book cover that makes them actually want to read. Please help me highlight some of these book covers with a new home for our classroom books.
