My Students

My students have autism. They learn very differently from any other children. They are highly visual and kinesthetic learners. They love to move and explore around the classroom. Learning for them has to be fun and engaging. Using textured materials, realia and manipulatives help them enjoy learning reading, writing as well as math.

My students love to learn.

They try their very best to be in school everyday. Their parents are our partners, without their help we would never be where we are at right now.

My students are integrated everyday with their non disabled peers and they are well respected and loved by our school community.

My Project

I am requesting for a new and durable computer so that I can download my lessons in Unique Learning System.

My class is an Autism program using the alternate curriculum called Unique Learning System (ULS).

ULS is an online, interactive, standards-based curriculum designed for students with special needs. Teachers and users download and interact with monthly, instructional, thematic units of study for the students.

As a special education teacher, I also need a reliable computer to help me write individualized education plans, communicate with parents, plan my lessons and create pictures to enhance communication of students and build their confidence. The computer can be used also by the students to play educational games, practice typing and watch educational videos and stories.
