Help me give my students access to information about the world they live in with Chromebooks. Kids have a natural curiosity to learn and I want to help them find their passion!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My second grade students are a diverse group of students from many different cultural backgrounds. But together, they make up a pretty magical class of committed students who will be our future problem-solvers and leaders! They are an upbeat and energetic group of learners. They are hard workers who put forth their best effort. This group of students especially enjoy reading and learning about science.
The materials would be a great way to show them that learning is not just about worksheets and fill in the blanks.
They can discover what truly interests them and what they are passionate about!
My Project
My students LOVE learning...and they love learning even more using technology. With the Chromebooks and headphones, this would give my students opportunities to access Epic.com which allows students to read books from multiple genres and topics and many other educational websites such as Mystery Science!
It is literally a library at their fingertips!
My students come in at various reading levels with some who are reading below grade level. Some students get frustrated when it comes to "reading time" because they find themselves struggling to decode and read. Very often, I hear kids say "I hate reading!"
With many of the educational reading sites that we already use, kids LOVE reading and enjoy our independent reading time. The Chromebooks and headphones will give equitable access to information because stories and books can be read to the students. I believe with the option that books can be read to them, they will learn to love reading instead of hate and dread reading due to the fact that they are "just not good at it." My students and I always discuss the power of yet and having a growth mindset. They may not be good at it yet, but to keep at it! With the technology, the students will definitely keep at it!
My students already LOVE going on epic.com and cheer when they are able to read books of their choice. This would give students more opportunities to truly be engaged in topics that interests them and allow ALL students to read!
