My Students

My students display a strong desire to understand their creativity and express it in ways that bring joy to themselves and to others. This desire is uniquely joined to the school culture my students support. Though they come from diverse backgrounds, my students appreciate their classical education and the perspective it can yield. They strive to be mindful and supportive of their peers, while persevering to do their best. My students enjoy learning how to create something beautiful as a means of doing something good.

I have seen COVID wear away students' sense of social consciousness; their ability to engage with themselves and others was hindered by the isolation they endured.

Students also had difficulty accessing art supplies or fruitfully engaging with their emotions due to the increased internal pressure COVID provided.

My Project

These resources, which include paper, markers and memory cards, will be used in a maze creation fundraiser. Students will create a maze using various elements of line and design. Their works will be professionally photographed using materials from Best Buy and bound into a book through Office Depot. This book will then be sold as a fundraiser for our school. This project will help promote Nevada Academic Content Standards Cr2.HS.3I (i.e., collaboratively develop a proposal for an installation, artwork, or space design that transforms the perception and experience of a particular place or idea) and Pr6.HS.1I (i.e., analyze and describe the impact that an exhibition or collection has on personal awareness of social, cultural, or political beliefs and understandings).
