Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our school is an inner city school in Las Vegas and the resources in the community affect our students daily. Help me provide resources to teach addition and subtraction on the number line up to 20. Allowing students to visualize adding and subtraction allows them to gain an understanding of number sense. When they physically move the numbers up and down they learn how numbers get bigger and smaller. The time clocks for each student would allow me to teach full group lessons and stories for students to all participate in.

Rather then sharing our limited supplies, giving each student their own materials would allow each student to be engaged in group lessons and provide individualized practice.

Many of our students do not have access to educational toys and in my classroom this is where they are able to play games and learn a love of learning through play.
